Orthopedic Surgeries

We’re thrilled to be known in the community for our top-notch orthopedic surgical care. Our team not only takes on the challenges of these surgeries with enthusiasm, but we also find it incredibly rewarding to help pets recover from painful orthopedic conditions.

We handle a variety of orthopedic issues, with common procedures including:

  • ACL repairs
  • Patella luxation repairs
  • Femoral Head Osteotomies (FHO)
  • Amputations
  • Bone plating & pinning

We’re excited to work together to get your pet back to their best health and mobility.

Post-Surgical Care

Your pet’s recovery doesn’t stop when they leave our clinic—it’s just as important to continue their care at home! After major surgery, your pet will need some extra nursing care, and keeping them calm and confined is crucial. That’s why it’s important to keep them indoors and prevent activities like jumping, running, climbing stairs, playing with other pets, or any rough play.

When taking your pet outside for bathroom breaks, keep them on a short leash. If you need to leave them alone, make sure they’re confined to a small, safe area like a crate. Your pet may also go home with a protective collar to stop them from licking or chewing at the incision, which can lead to infections and other complications that might require further treatment.

Check your pet’s incision daily—it should look better each day. If you notice redness, discharge, or excessive licking, don’t hesitate to call us. Your pet should be gradually improving, but if there’s any sudden change or if they seem to be getting worse, let us know right away. We’re here to help your pet get back to feeling their best as soon as possible. Contact Wooster Animal Clinic for all of your pet’s surgery needs from spaying and neutering in Wooster to complex orthopedic procedures.
