Quick Results for Accurate Care

At Wooster Animal Clinic, we handle many of our lab tests right here in the clinic. If a test needs to be done externally, we’ll send it to a trusted outside lab chosen by your veterinarian.

Before any surgery, we recommend a pre-anesthetic blood test to reduce any risks for your pet. This test checks organ function and can reveal hidden issues that might affect how your pet processes anesthesia. Plus, the results become part of your pet’s medical records, serving as a useful baseline for the future.

We also regularly perform a variety of in-house lab tests, including:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): Provides a detailed look at red and white blood cells and platelets.
  • General Health Profiles: Includes Blood Chemistry and Pre-anesthetic Panels for diagnosing a range of diseases.
  • Electrolytes: Important for evaluating symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and heart issues.
  • Urinalysis: Helps diagnose conditions like diabetes, and issues with the kidneys, liver, or urinary tract.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG): Monitors heart rate and rhythm, which is crucial during anesthesia.
  • Thyroid (T4) Tests: Measures thyroid hormone levels and can also detect heartworm disease.
  • Heartworm Tests: Checks for heartworms, which can be fatal if untreated.
  • Tick-Borne Disease Tests: Screens for serious illnesses like Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis.
